INPEX SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION (the Foundation) was established as nonprofit organization in Japan in March 1981 in order to promote mutual understanding, friendship and goodwill between Indonesia and Japan through an exchange of students by means of scholarship awards.
Commencing in 2022, the FOUNDATION is expanding its focus to include Australia and United Arab Emirates (UAE). Scholarships will be offered to promising Indonesian, Australian and UAE students who wish to study a Postgraduate University course in Japan.

We select our Scholarship Students from applicants while they are still residing in the home country. Many other Japanese scholarship foundations, conversely, choose their students from the applicants who are already living or studying in Japan.
Our Foundation assists a successful candidate to obtain a student visa while he/she is still in the home country and assists to secure lodgings when he/she arrives in Japan.
Our Scholarship covers a fixed monthly amount for living expenses, commuting pass to and from the place of
study, and admission and tuition expenses for Japanese language schools and Japanese universities.
Foreign students probably know that an increasing number of graduate schools in Japan are providing classes in
English language, however, the importance of studying Japanese language should not be ignored. Therefore, the
Foundation encourages and supports our scholarship students to study Japanese language.
For Japanese Scholarship Students, our Foundation has, since its inception, consistently assisted the students with their studies exclusively in Indonesia. From 2023, in addition to Indonesia, the students want to study in Australia or the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will also be eligible for scholarships.

Scholarship Students upto 2023 (Year 42)
Most our scholarship students wish to proceed to a PhD. There are also civil servants (such as national research institutes, researchers of state-owned enterprises and ministries) and lectors at their own universities. Others find employment in large Japanese companies.
Most Scholarship Students are enrolled in master’s programs or doctoral programs at Japanese universities. They travel to Indonesia and study their particular academic subjects there. Some are admitted as short-term students at universities or research centers of Indonesia and engaged in field studies there.
Students usually need special permission from BRIN to study in the field in Indonesia. Many students study art subjects such as Indonesian music and dance. Many female applicants for each subject.
